Many of Sydney’s most serious criminal cases begin in Central Local Court. Generally, the Defendant will be in custody. There are often bail applications made at Central Local Court.
The cases will progress through the ‘Early Appropriate Guilty Plea’ (EAGP) system until they are finalised or transferred to Downing Centre District Court.

You can get to Central Local Court by public transport to Town Hall Station or Museum Station. It is a short five-minute walk from either station.
If you are driving you should expect significant traffic and delays.
There is parking near Central Local Court at paid car parks near the court on Elizabeth Street, Macquarie Street and St Mary’s Road.
The Central Local Court List sets out the time, date and location of all court matters up to three weeks in the future and one week in the past.
