      Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge O’Brien was a Deputy Chief Magistrate in the Local Court. Before his appointment to the Local Court bench he was an experienced solicitor who had been accredited as a specialist in criminal law by the Law Society.

      Judge Syme graduated from the University Western Australia and worked in private practice as a barrister and solicitor in WA, until she was appointed a Magistrate of the Local Court in NSW in 1997. She became a judge in the District Court in 2008.

      Prior to his appointment to the bench, Judge Jeffries was one of the most well-respected criminal defence lawyers in New South Wales.

      Before being appointed to the District Court, Judge Townsden was a Magistrate in the Local Court.

      Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Girdham was a Crown prosecutor with the Director of Public Prosecutions.

      Judge Culver was a Deputy Chief Magistrate of the Local Court prior to being made a Judge of the District Court.
