The current presiding Magistrate at Forbes Local Court is His Honour Magistrate Phillip Stewart.
Before his appointment to the bench, Magistrate Stewart spent time as a Police officer and prosecutor before working as a criminal defence solicitor. He was recognised for his expertise by the Law Society of NSW, which labeled him as an accredited specialist in criminal law in 2001.
